Sumo (相撲 sumō?) or sumo wrestling is a competitive full-contact wrestling sport where a rikishi (wrestler) attempts to force another wrestler out of a circular ring (dohyō) or into touching the ground with anything other than the soles of his feet. The characters 相撲 literally mean ''striking one another''.
The sport originated in Japan, the only country where it is practiced professionally. It is generally considered a gendai budō (a modern Japanese martial art)
A 20 x 20 rectangular fighting ring features a flat bottom non-inflated floor with inflated walls to contain the wrestlers. It can be rented separately for a discounted price of $100 when renting sumo suits. The ring is listed as The Foam Pit in our list of attractions.
The images shown are to demonstrate the suits and not the actual ring which is more elaborate and resembles the ring in picture number 1.▲
